TRESemmé Smooth Review + NYFW Hair

Welcome to my weekly New York Fashion Week inspired hair style series, yip that is a mouthful! I don’t know about you but whenever I watch a fashion show the main things I notice are the make-up and hair styles mainly because I find it so interesting to see how the designer interpreted their clothes down to the finer details of hair and make up. I am going to break down the hair trends straight off the runway into a series as well as a review on each TRESemmé range, be on the look out for sneaky tips and giveaways along the way! Today we’re talking all about the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Range.

I think most people who dye their hair struggle with breakage which leads to flyaways and oh the flyaway struggle is sooooo real! After bleaching my hair I have really been struggling with dem flyaways – my hair takes wings of their own!! So I have been drenching it in the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth full range, shampoo, conditioner and mask to keep my hair as smooth as possible.

I was expecting my fine hair to feel very limp and get greasier quite fast being such a rich range that is meant to smooth down your hair, so I was basically expecting to look like I had just been licked with my hair stuck down to my scalp. I am happy to say this did not happen, my hair didn’t feel extra weighed down or get greasier faster and my flyaways were smoothed down without adding extra serum.

As with all TRESemmé ranges the scent is amazing so fresh and lingers around the locks for a good two days. The other thing that I really enjoy about the brand is the size of the products 750ml Shampoo and Conditioner, because a little does go a long way (and I don’t have that much hair) a set will last me a good two months which is great for my grocery bill!

Now onto the New York Fashion Week sleek hair trends. Throughout the series I am going to be showing you some of the hair trends broken down with these symbols showing you easy to slightly more difficult:

‘’When you have an intricate look and you’re using hair ties, to conceal them, aim a little higher than you want it to be, so that it’s easier to tuck into the remaining hair, for a flawless finish.” Orlando Pita, TRESemmé New York Fashion Week Ambassador

Products and Tools needed:

  • Blow Dryer
  • Straightener
  • Round Bristle Brush
  • Soft Bristle Brush
  • Clear Elastic Bands
  • TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Shampoo & Conditioner
  • Hair Oil
  • Hair Spray

STEP 1: Start with the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Shampoo, followed by the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Conditioner for a smooth starting base.

STEP 2: Blow dry the hair straight with a round bristle brush.

STEP 3: Run a hair straightener over the hair, making sure there are no kinks or stray hairs and smooth over with a hair oil for a healthy shine.

STEP 4: Make a deep side parting and comb hair back, then generously spray with TRESemmé Firm Hold Hairspray to hold hair in place.

STEP 5: Take a two inch section from just above the ear and sweep hair across to the opposite side and affix with a small part of hair from that side, using a small clear elastic band. Repeat this process on the opposite side.

STEP 6: Tuck hair bands under the opposite part of hair so you cannot see the band. Use a soft bristle brush to tame flyaways and finish the look with TRESemmé Hairspray.

“Carry your centre part from your forehead down to the nape of your neck and pull the hair over your shoulders – this way you can blow dry your hair from the front and will find it easier to manage your brush and control the air flow of your hairdryer for a smoother finish” Orlando Pita, TRESemmé  New York Fashion Week Ambassador

Products and Tools needed:

  • Blow Dryer
  • Round Bristle Brush
  • Soft Bristle Brush
  • Clear Elastic Bands
  • TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Shampoo & Conditioner
  • TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Hair Maximiser
  • Hair Spray

STEP 1: Start with TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Shampoo, followed by the Keratin Smooth Conditioner for a smooth starting base.

STEP 2: Apply TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Hair Maximiser from root to tip, applying in small sections, and using your fingers to work in the product.

STEP 3: Create a centre part and blow dry in small sections with a round bristle brush, working from the nape of the neck up to the forehead – make sure you angle the air from the blow dryer in the opposite direction towards your hair for a smooth finish.

STEP 4: After you finish each section curl the hair around your fingers and pin in place with a bobby pin. Allow all the sections to cool completely before releasing.

STEP 5: Spray a soft bristle brush with the TRESemmé Hairspray and brush through your hair to tame any flyaways. Tuck your hair behind your ears and allow the hair to fall behind your shoulders.

I know you’re probably shocked at how simple these two styles are to recreate but sometimes the looks that come off the runway are easy to recreate and not over the top. Be sure to come back next week for the next installment of #CaraFayTRESemme (that shiz even rhymes!)
