We moved flats and with that came a whole lot of admin and was not the smoothest move of them all. Included in the mix of this has been wedding planning which also hasn’t been so smooth sailing. We are finally settling in and of course no home of mine is one without a little DIY added into the mix. In our old flat I DIY’d our bedside lights but I knew when we got to the new flat I needed to do something that didn’t involve drilling into the walls as they’re a creamy colour that I would never be able to colour match on my own! After hours of Pinterest scrolling I found my copper pipe inspiration and off to Builders Warehouse I went. These were incredibly easy to make, with the right tools and measurements anything can be made with these copper beauties! I made use of the Hoi P’loy lights I had already DIY’d so I didn’t need to purchase […]

Easy DIY Tassel Earrings http://www.carafay.co.za/easy-diy-tassel-earrings/ http://www.carafay.co.za/easy-diy-tassel-earrings/#comments Mon, 23 Oct 2017 05:00:38 +0000 http://www.carafay.co.za/?p=4143 Welcome to a new DIY… I haven’t felt very inspired to make anything lately that was until I saw the trend of Tassel Earrings – I knew I just had to get my hands stuck right in. I found different versions of DIY Tassel Earrings on Pinterest, narrowed down two designs/styles I liked and off I went to find all the supplies. Things you will need: Embroidery Floss (R7, Sewing Centre CBD) Jump Rings (R5 for a packet, I found a shop in Church St CBD) Earring Hooks (R5 for a packet, same shop on Church St) Pliers (price depends on where and what quality, remember you can always use a multi-tool thingy) The rest is easy…. As you can see DIY Tassel Earrings are super simple to create and cost under R20 a pair! There are obviously ways you can change up the design to these for example I made another pair where I added a larger round gold hoop that I attached the tassel onto. Let me know in the comments if you are into the tassel earring trend and if you’d be keen to make yourself a pair? ♥

Want to start blogging? Here’s How! http://www.carafay.co.za/want-to-start-blogging-heres-how/ http://www.carafay.co.za/want-to-start-blogging-heres-how/#respond Tue, 17 Oct 2017 06:00:34 +0000 http://www.carafay.co.za/?p=4152 I have always wondered how Travel Bloggers do what they do; do they approach companies with a plan and then together they collaborate? Do they get given freebies and document those experiences or do they simply love sharing the places that they visit? Look I am no travel blogger by genre but if I do have an opportunity to travel best believe it will be documented! Not only for the reason that it would be nice content to share but also so that I have a place where I can look back at memories, for example when I went to Bliss Boutique #ExploreWC with Lerato, Verushka, Rayne and Fathima I vlogged the whole thing, it reminds me of what we got up to and the fact that I had pink hair at the time!! Travelstart South Africa have created a really easy to understand inforgraphic which pretty much answers all the questions to becoming a travel blogger, well any blogger can take a thing or two from the below!   If you’re on the fence on becoming a blogger (I get this question all the time and really feel that the above answers all the blogging newbie questions on how to become a blogger!) DIY Copper and Wood Plant Stand http://www.carafay.co.za/diy-copper-and-wood-plant-stand/ http://www.carafay.co.za/diy-copper-and-wood-plant-stand/#comments Thu, 27 Jul 2017 05:11:56 +0000 http://www.carafay.co.za/?p=3957 Today’s DIY post is probably one of my most favourites of all time! Firstly because it involves plants and secondly because I created a gorgeous piece for my home from scratch. I have been wanting a plant stand for so long but I didn’t want to invest in one because I don’t know if it’s more of a fad that I will get over and they’re so expensive! As with all good ideas I headed to Pinterest for some DIY inspiration, I saw so many cool ideas some more complicated than others but when I came across this simple plant stand DIY I just knew that this was what I wanted to create. I started off going through the DIY and what I needed to buy, I then browsed through Builders Warehouse online store and placed an order for the drill and opted to collect this into the store I was going to. The Builders Warehouse online store was so simple to navigate and the drill I found was actually in the promotion section so I got a total bargain! The online store has a huge variety of things from building material to home finishing’s like blankets. I headed to […]

moldable clay DIY http://www.carafay.co.za/moldable-clay-diy/ http://www.carafay.co.za/moldable-clay-diy/#comments Thu, 20 Jul 2017 05:03:21 +0000 http://www.carafay.co.za/?p=3924 I am all about a good DIY, so often I troll through Pinterest looking for simple ideas that I can get crafty with. I kept seeing DIYs that use moldable clay and then realized that Builder’s Warehouse have a craft isle and off I went in hopes I would find moldable clay AND I DID! I was so excited not only because I found the clay it was also a lot more simple than the clay that is mentioned in the Pinterest DIY as that version needs to be baked, the version I found at Builder’s Warehouse drys by itself in the air – no baking needed! After finding the clay I knew I wanted my first try to be ring cone holders similar to these that I saw on Pinterest. The application was really simple and I completed the whole thing in 30 minutes. What you’ll need to pick up from Builder’s Warehouse: 1) Moldable Clay: 2) Spray Paint of your choice: Step 1 – All you need to do is pull off some clay and mold it into a cone shape, as you can see they’re not perfect and have a few lumps if I was to make […]

DIY Upcycled Frame Builders Warehouse http://www.carafay.co.za/diy-upcycled-frame-builders-warehouse/ http://www.carafay.co.za/diy-upcycled-frame-builders-warehouse/#comments Mon, 17 Apr 2017 08:18:13 +0000 http://www.carafay.co.za/?p=3425 Is there anything better than taking a stroll through a flea market and find some good bargains for upcycling? I absolutely love doing this, I often find things that I just know I can turn into something new and different. Today I am going to talk you through a really quick DIY… a slick of chalk paint on a plain wooden frame. All you will need is a paint brush or roller and chalk paint is probably one of my most favourite types of paint, its no muss no fuss can be used to create a white washed/rustic look by just adding some wax in little places. It also has a nice matte finish. Builders Warehouse is the home of all DIY with isles and isles of brushes, hooks, paints and pretty much anything you can think of. Everytime I go near one I get so inspired with all the things I can create and upcycle ? Step 1) The frame I picked up didn’t need any sanding or prepping so I just removed the glass and the backing board. Step 2) Stir up the paint, I shook the tub and then swirled my brush around a little. Step 3) […]

DIY Pendant Lights hoi p’loy http://www.carafay.co.za/diy-pendant-lights-hoi-ploy/ http://www.carafay.co.za/diy-pendant-lights-hoi-ploy/#respond Wed, 05 Apr 2017 09:50:11 +0000 http://www.carafay.co.za/?p=3064 I thought I would share with you all one of my latest bedroom DIY’s. Our bedroom isn’t the largest and has ONE built in cupboard so storage is a little issue. I am always looking for ways to maximize space and make the room look as minimal as possible without comprising the need for storage. I picked up these bed side tables for R150 from a second hand furniture seller on facebook. The legs were completely different – they were straight and a bit meh but I saw potentital because I absolutely love the draws. I enlisted the help of a local carpenter to chop off the legs and use the wood to create slanted legs instead, I then painted the outer parts cream and decided to leave the draw in its natural wood form, I absolutely love how they came out. The one thing I struggled with for a long time was lighting, out room has a single pendant light in the centre of the room which happens to be above the bed and of course more to my side so I hate it – its ugly and shines directly into my eyeballs. agh. We have been through about 3 […]

Slick of paint, revamp {DIY} http://www.carafay.co.za/slick-paint-revamp-diy/ http://www.carafay.co.za/slick-paint-revamp-diy/#comments Sat, 25 Feb 2017 06:30:31 +0000 http://www.carafay.co.za/?p=3098 I am prone to a good DIY, I have so many ideas and often when I find a piece of furniture and imagine all the ways I can revamp it up this mostly involves in a slick of paint and an updated handle (which by the way you can find the most affordable and gorgeous handles/knobs from Poetry Stores). When we moved into the flat we had to find ways to make the space work for us. It’s a duplex with not much space in the living room. We had our dining room table custom made to fit under the stairs and to fit our 4 farm style chairs. I had painted the chairs previously to look shabby chic and rustic but to be honest they started to look a bit messy and rundown. When Prominent paint got in touch to collaborate I straight away knew I wanted to revamp the chairs. After endless hours on pinterest I decided on light grey and pink for the chairs and a fresh coat of white paint for the table. Off to Prominent paint Kenilworth I went, oh the choices! I stood in front of the paint chips for ages, uming an aring over […]

Fast forward a few years OREO has evolved globally with different flavours, chocolate and even an OREO Ice-Cream sandwich (its delicious BTW!) Today I excited to share with you the new OREO offering to the South African market… V A N I L L A OREO Golden is a vanilla cream biscuit with a vanilla centre to give you a FULL-ON vanilla taste. This is the 3rd variant of OREOs to the South African market and just in time for the festive season! Now onto the Golden DIY, you know when you’re invited to dinner and you’re asked to bring dessert, want to create something different but suck at baking and want to make a little more effort than picking up some chocolate mousse from woolies? Well I’m going to show you a super quick and easy DIY OREO dessert or gift, I like to call it my box of bejeweled biscuits. These are so simple and quick to make, watch […]

Definitely check them out for any printing needs, t-shirts, large scale, design and so much more! I thought it would be a nice idea to offer the design to anyone that would like it.
